*It is with deep sadness that we are updating this story with the news that Alexa gained her Angel Wings in 2021.  She will always be remembered with sunflowers and smiles. PCRF will continuew to fight in her memory to improve outcomes for all children facing cancer.

Today, we celebrate Honorary Dribble for the Cure Captain, Alexa, having reached a survival milestone after passing the five-year mark! After being diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in 2013, Alexa spent over a year in and out of the hospital. She went through five months of chemotherapy and another month of radiation treatments. Today, she is healthy and is a very active ten-year-old. She continues to take dance lessons and perform. She also keeps busy with her new hobby, sewing. Alexa has blossomed as an “A” student, now in the seventh grade in middle school!  She has adapted well to middle school and loves her robotics class. This year, her parents and extended family had a big trip to Niagara Falls, New York City, Canada, the Caribbean as well as camping and hiking trips closer to home.

Alexa is a proud Dribble for the Cure Honorary Captain and has raised thousands of dollars to support the research at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, the hospital that she was treated at! Join Alexa and other patients at the 12th Annual Dribble for the Cure at UCLA.
