powering cures, realizing futures

Krista Anderson

Krista Anderson was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis at 11 months old. While she was too young to remember her year-long chemotherapy treatment, she does remember the constant pokes, testing, scans, and treatments she endured.  She also cannot forget the numerous side effects of her treatment that she carries with her every day.  Her family has tragically been further touched with cancer as her brother was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 5 and her father with pancreatic cancer.

“My experiences with cancer have made me stronger and created a spark of passion in me to give to others,” writes Krista in her application essay.  “Giving is rewarding!”

This fall, Krista will attend Concordia University Wisconsin and major in Marketing, with an emphasis on the travel/tourism industry.
