PCRF Storms the Sand Storm Lacrosse Festival to Spotlight Research

At the heart of the lacrosse community, the Sand Storm Lacrosse Festival stands out as a premier event that showcases top-notch talent and champions important causes. This year, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) took center stage at the Festival to promote our newest campaign, LaCROSSe Out Cancer®.

Dedicated to funding groundbreaking research, the Foundation aims to improve the lives of young cancer patients by advancing new and better cures for childhood cancers.  Our presence at the Sand Storm Lacrosse Festival enabled us to create important awareness about LaCROSSe Out Cancer, a peer-to-peer fundraising platform designed to engage lacrosse enthusiasts in supporting pediatric cancer research. Participants who accept the challenge are encouraged to raise funding for research to support the needs of the 47 children who are diagnosed each day with pediatric cancers. Participants are asked to adopt a symbolic activity – be it 47 reps, donations in increments of 47 dollars, or adhering to a challenge activity for 47 days.  Our collective goal is simply to LaCROSSe Out Cancer.

With over 500+ teams, 70+ fields and 30,000+ attendees, Sand Storm provided an excellent platform to spread awareness about our campaign. We were encouraged by the energy and passion of many in the lacrosse community – including players, coaches and parents — who expressed interest in adopting the LaCROSSe Out Cancer initiative and supporting the Foundation’s work.

We extend our appreciation to partners, including Elevate Lacrosse, the Premier Lacrosse League and Pearl Lacrosse, who offered a LaCROSSe Out Cancer shooting challenge where players could donate and take their shot to earn prizes throughout the weekend.

If you have interest in accepting the challenge, or know someone who might be, please visit www.lacrosseoutcancer.org for information.
