Thanks to your generous support, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is able to fund 13 promising research grants in 2017! Each research study is designed to improve the care, quality of life and survival rate of children with malignant diseases. PCRF places a high degree of importance on quality of life and the definition of survivorship for every child diagnosed with cancer.
PCRF is committing $1.7 million to fund new research endeavors at leading institutions across the country, including Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, New York Medical College, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Oregon Health and Sciences University and University of California, San Francisco.
PCRF’s unique approach to funding childhood cancer research is aimed at the most promising research with lower toxicity and excellent quality of life outcomes. We work directly with doctors and researchers to identify the challenges they face in bringing new treatments to and caring for children with cancer. Our careful distribution of grants has allowed these doctors to speed up the process of bringing the latest and most promising treatments to seriously ill children. The result is bringing hope to childhood cancer patients now and in the future.
Areas of scientific research include: novel therapies for medulloblastoma; new therapies for relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML); finding new treatment approaches for patients with Ewing sarcoma; improving the prognosis and disease management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); as well as identifying specific proteins contained in neuroblastoma exosomes, and better understanding the signaling pathways that they affect in target cells.
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is making tremendous strides toward cures and better outcomes for the 14,000 children each year newly diagnosed with cancer. Your support is the key in helping us continue to fund the most promising research in the country. Together we stand vigil until a cure is found.
Your gift powers hope!
