With options for all fitness levels, the run/walk/bike event features a Half Marathon, 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk, 1K Kid’s Fun Run and five bike route distances. High energy runs throughout the venue; athletes run/walk, kids enjoy the fun atmosphere, and families connect with the community to support their children’s fight against cancer.
2019 Post-race activities included our VIP Gold Ribbon Reception from Firestone Brewing Company and Urbane Cafe. The Finish Line Festival featured an awards ceremony, over 70 health and wellness exhibitors and PCRF’s famous Kids Zone complete with rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, obstacle courses, face painting and more – fun for the whole family.
Funds raised from this event support the annual open grant cycle that has allowed the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation to support more than 174 grants to 50 principal investigators at 32 leading institutions across the nation. Be a part of the solution: participate, volunteer and fundraise!
Get involved and be a part of Reaching for a Cure! Mark your calendars now for next year’s Reaching for the Cure on March 22, 2020.
About Reaching for the Cure
Sunday, March 17, 2019
5500 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine, CA 92618
Reaching for the Cure is PCRF’s annual run/walk event that started in 1998 as a grassroots awareness event with a banner, some very committed volunteers, and a walk around the Irvine Spectrum parking lot. Proudly, the event has grown to include a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1K kids fun run with thousands of participants from across the country.
This year we will celebrate 21 years of life-saving research dollars raised at this event in honor of pediatric cancer warriors, patients, and survivors everywhere. Each participant is asked to fundraise for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation so that we can continue to fund the most cutting-edge research that improves the care, quality of life and survival rates of children with malignant disease. Your registration gets you to the start line and fundraising will get a cure to the finish line!

When you participate as a team, your impact is amplified tremendously – for your fundraising and for the awareness you create in the community at large.
Individuals may also make an impact on pediatric cancer by doing their own fundraising and earn some cool prizes too! Your effort is vital to making research advancements possible. Everyone can participate in this effort to end pediatric cancer.

Ways to Volunteer
The Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids Run would not be possible without the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers. During the months leading up to the race, you can help at the Irvine office with outreach, recruitment and organizing. We also need 600 volunteers to work shifts during Race Weekend – there’s something for everyone!
There are many opportunities to participate in the Reaching for the Cure event. While we begin working out the details for shifts and assignments, please contact Brooke Bain to get your name on the list early! Fill out the form here or Email email@example.com or (949) 859-6312
We will offer Volunteer Orientation meetings and introduction videos to allow for key volunteers to learn the basics of the Reaching for the Cure Event and all that’s involved with being a volunteer. This will be held approximately 2 weeks before the walk as a final preparation for the weekend. If you’d like to step up and be a Key Volunteer on race weekend, please let our Volunteer Coordinator know and we will provide you with training dates and location details as soon as they become available.
We have many opportunities that are great for groups! If you’re interested, contact Brooke Bain to get your name on the list early! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or (949) 859-6312
We are always looking for volunteers to help during the months leading up to the race. We work on many tasks to prepare for the race, including team support, mailings, data entry, outreach and more. If you’re available anytime Monday-Friday, between 9:00am – 5:00pm, please let us know!
While volunteers aren’t required to fundraise, we encourage you to do what you can, too! It’s a way to make your experience even more powerful, and we’ll provide you with some great support and fundraising tools available to our participants. Let us know you’d like to participate and we’ll set you up!
