powering cures, realizing futures

Brody O'Donnell

In January 2012, after months of unexplained vomiting a CT scan revealed that 11-month-old Brody had a tumor on his brainstem. Following successful brain surgery, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (AT/RT). Although Brody was initially given a 10% chance of survival, his family refused to give up hope.

Brody’s treatment included 5 rounds of intense chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, and radiation. While in the hospital, despite every adversity, Brody managed to smile and bring joy to those around him. Today, Brody is a happy, energetic 13-year-old and has remained cancer free for 12 years!

Brody’s family learned about PCRF from their oncologist, as he received grants from PCRF to support his latest research in brain cancer treatment. The family has been supporting PCRF ever since. Over the past 11 years, Team Brody has raised almost $100,000 for PCRF Reaching for the Cure. Thanks to funding from PCRF, medical professionals can make advancements in treatment, increase survival rates, and find cures for childhood cancer.
