MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THE 24TH ANNUAL ROD CAREW CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC
The 23rd consecutive year that Rod Carew, Hall of Fame baseball great, has partnered with PCRF to host the Annual Rod Carew Children’s Cancer Golf Classic.
More than 60 sponsors, 260 golfers and 80 volunteers joined together to help raise over $315,500 for the 23rd Annual Rod Carew Children’s Cancer Golf Classic. This tournament is dedicated to raising the necessary dollars that bring hope and lifesaving treatments to children battling cancer. With every swing of a golf club, raffle ticket purchased, auction item won, and donation made, every dollar goes to help support kids and families can re-focus on the joys of childhood. We are grateful to our generous donors, thanks to you we are one step closer towards finding a cure.
This Orange County favorite golf tournament has raised millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research, all in honor of Michelle Carew’s memory. It is with Rod’s encouragement and strength we continue in our fight to help save kids that are battling cancer just like Michelle.
“Thank you for supporting this special day, and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation. You are helping save kids that are fighting just like my daughter did over 20 years ago. I may have lost a daughter, but every one of these kids that survives is one of my children now. These are my kids you are saving today.”
Next year’s tournament will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 at the Pelican Hill Golf Club. The tournament will be played on both courses. A traditional foursome scramble will be played on one course and a foursome select drive (Shamble) will be played on the other course. We will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30AM. After tournament play enjoy a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by a celebratory dinner beginning at 5:00PM.

2018 MICHELLE CAREW SPIRIT AWARD
It is with great admiration and respect that we chose Jim Axelson as the 2018 Michelle Carew Spirit Award recipient.
“PCRF does more with less resources than any organization I have ever seen or been involved with. I have seen the miracles and listened to the stories from the kids that PCRF has been able to help and it always reminds me how blessed I am, so it thrills me to do my little part to help.” – Jim Axelson
Jim’s “little part” for more than 20 years has resulted in hundreds of thousands of research dollars, growth in awareness, and a leadership role that others have followed in order to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
Right now we cannot prevent children from being born with pediatric cancers. We can, however, provide them with treatments to overcome many types of these diseases. It just takes resources.
