Each year, U.S. News & World Report releases their rankings for the Best Children’s Hospitals in the nation. According to U.S. News, hospitals are ranked based on “five-year survival, bone marrow transplant services and infection prevention, along with other data collected from a detailed U.S. News clinical survey of children’s hospitals.”
Dana Farber Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has been named the best pediatric hospital in the nation. PCRF is proud to support Dr. Brian Crompton’s research at Dana Farber which focuses on finding new treatment approaches for patients with Ewing sarcoma. With our help, Dr. Crompton is developing a blood test that will help to track a patient’s response to therapy. This should help to identify patients who are not responding well to therapy early in their treatment course. Eventually, this will allow the development of patient-specific approaches to treatment.
PCRF is honored to have supported research at 5 other hospitals ranked in the Top 10 including: Seattle Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are unique in our approach to funding childhood cancer research. Our careful distribution of grants has allowed doctors to speed up the process of bringing the latest and most promising treatments to children with cancer. The result is bringing hope to childhood cancer patients now and in the future.
